bountiful baskets

happy monday! how was your weekend? mine was so extremely busy and it only gets more busy from here. they are all good things though. 🙂

so, since my garden is still in its early stages, my friend bittina, from poor girl, rich food, and I decided to share a bountiful basket. it was my first time and her second time so we decided to split it because bittina said that they give you so much! and they did.

it’s such a great program and deal. the total was $15, so only $7.50 each (plus a little tax). you never know ahead of time what you get, but you’re guaranteed to love it all. we picked up our basket at a cute little park in tempe and the workers were so amazingly nice.

we got asparagus (!!) zucchini, celery, romaine lettuce, sweet potatoes, apples, grapefruit, bananas, spinach, mangos, tomatoes and cantaloupe.

we drooled over the heirloom tomatoes and huge bag of tortillas that came in the mexican package. next time we might try adding on some fresh, local bread.

a word of advice: bring your owns bags. in my head, i envisioned them handing me an actual basket. in reality, you have to take the stuff out of the baskets and take them with you. luckily, bittina and i found something to use.

i can’t wait until my little garden monsters start growing. 🙂 i’ll recap their progress this weekend. my eggplants are getting so big.
